Raw count versus working count
The raw result is the proportional count for the target width. The working count may need to move up or down to satisfy a repeat, symmetry or edge treatment. StitchMeasure shows the arithmetic first so this adjustment remains visible.
For 22 stitches over 10 cm and a 48 cm target, the raw answer is 105.6. Rounding to 106 is reasonable, but a pattern repeat may make 104 or 108 more useful.
What to add afterwards
Do not automatically add selvedges, button bands or seam allowances. Some patterns include them in the count and others place them outside the repeat. Record the interpretation you use.
